Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI) Chairman Hussain Afeef has commended Bank of Maldives (BML) for its longstanding contribution to the development of the tourism industry, describing the Bank as an important partner for businesses operating in the sector.
Speaking about the Bank’s role in supporting tourism-related investments and growth, Afeef noted that BML has consistently provided assistance that has helped the industry strengthen and evolve over the years.
“Bank of Maldives has been a steadfast partner to the tourism sector, providing critical financing that has enabled expansion, innovation, and resilience across the industry,” Afeef said.
He further stressed that the Bank’s ongoing efforts to secure additional financing opportunities would help broaden support available to tourism enterprises across the country.
“Their proactive approach in seeking new funding avenues will further enhance their capacity to support tourism enterprises and contribute meaningfully to the country’s economic development,” he added.
BML remains one of the key financial institutions supporting tourism projects in the Maldives, including resort development, hospitality services, and related businesses that contribute significantly to the national economy.
Afeef is widely recognised as one of the pioneers of the Maldivian tourism industry and among the country’s leading resort operators. He is also regarded as a respected national figure who has contributed to the Maldives in various capacities over several decades.
